How to transfer the project to be centrally managed within the organization

How do I transfer the project to be managed within the organization?

Scenario

I have created an organization for the convenience of management, and I would like to transfer all projects into the organization. Can you please guide me on how to execute this?

Project transfer to the organization generally involves two scenarios: transferring projects without an organization to the organization and transferring projects already within another organization to a specific organization.

This article will illustrate the process of transferring a project without an organization to an organization.

Operation

IAM Permissions needed

The user executing the project transfer must have

  • the 'Owner' role at the project level and
  • the 'Project Creator' role at the organization level. Having only the 'Owner' or 'Organization Administrator' role is not sufficient for the target organization.

Steps

1. Verify the project ID and target organization ID.

2. Activate Cloud Shell and enter the following command

$ gcloud beta projects move [SOURCE_PROJECT_ID] --organization [DESTINATION_ORGANIZATION_ID]

Replace SOURCE_PROJECT_ID and DESTINATION_ORGANIZATION_ID with the correct IDs.

3. Complete the migration.
